Be A Volunteer

We need you.

Who can apply for the program?

Currently we are looking for certified yoga teachers, possibly with a yoga therapy background, to teach yoga to the villagers 6 days a week and possibly at the local government school in the villages of Mai Majhuwa and Memeng for at least one month.

Additionally we are looking for volunteers to teach English at the school in Prangbung (Friday half day and Saturdays are off).

Please be aware of the following:

  • You will be staying the whole month in a remote village. (Getting back to a bigger town is not impossible, but it takes a little bit.)
  • The living conditions are simple
  • Not a lot of villagers are able to speak English
  • You might be the only volunteer in the village
  • Costs would be your visa fees, transportation and your daily meals. Accommodation will be for free. (We will help you along the way.)

If you think you have an additional skill that could benefit the people in these remote villages, please let us know. Anything that is health related, for example you are a nurse, doctor for diabetes, an eye doctor or a dentist, nutritionist,… would always be beneficial and perhaps on one of our follow up trips, you could join us.

What are the benefits?

With any help you could contribute, you are making a big difference in the life of the villagers. It could be giving a yoga class, helping the kids to learn English, teach them about nutrition or anything else you could contribute. You will receive a big THANK YOU and the biggest smile you have ever seen from them.

You on the other side you are getting a great opportunity to experience the rural life and culture of Nepal. You can learn how to cook Dal Baht or make a milk tea, the surrounding is quite stunning. Fresh air every day, time to yourself, … And of course you could add this to your curriculum vitae.

How To Apply?

Step 1: Write us an email

Please let us know who you are, where you are from, your age,  what you could share with the local communities, what makes you the volunteer we are looking for, when are you planning to come to Nepal, and how long you are planning to stay, and why do you want to volunteer. If you have a curriculum vitae - even better.

Step 2: Wait for a response

It might take us a little while to get back to you, so please be patient. We will be in touch with you on all the details.

Step 3: Think about it and ask questions

This is probably quite different than volunteering in Kathmandu. Be aware that the villages are remote, that it takes some time to get back to a bigger town (It is not impossible) and that you are the only volunteer in that village. Please email us any questions you have.

Step 4: Let's start planning

If we all agreed that you will join us as a volunteer, we will get you all the necessary information about visa, transportation, what to bring,... We will make sure that this will be a great experience for you and the villagers.
