During our meeting with the Department Education Office in Phidim (which is responsible for all schools in the Panchtar District in the East of Nepal) we discussed the current situation in schools in remote areas, how the District is spending their budget, the proper way of setting up libraries, and possible future projects. As we want to visit Falaicha, another remote community, for the first time during our upcoming project, he recommended to donate white boards to Shingakali Lower Secondary School in Falaicha, as this very remote school has urgent needs.
Using chalk boards in Nepal is an unhealthy way of teaching – both for teachers and students. But the budget from the Department Education Office is sometimes not big enough to get white boards for each school.
Our goal for this project was to:
- Give white boards and markers to all classes for proper and healthier way of teaching
The donations were spent as followed:
- 8 White Boards with marker sets
- Transportation costs
UPDATE: During our visit to the school we met all teachers and many students. We found a very well organized school with great attendance and a passionate headmaster with his staff. They were very grateful for the whiteboards. Additionally we left some pencils and other school supplies at the school and educated the youngest ones in brushing their teeth.
With your help we were able to make a huge impact for this school and we improved the teaching and learning facilities. THANK YOU to all or supporters for their money donations or the tooth brushes.
